Our union through the decades

Comprehensive History (1).jpg

Key Figures from MLBPA History

These are the people that helped shape our union into what it is today. From our earliest days with Marvin Miller putting players in coca-cola caps to our current leadership integrating Minor League Players into our ranks, these people made us who we are.

Key Focus Areas:

Dick Moss

Dick Moss’ contributions as a lawyer, agent and player advocate helped empower and advance the rights of players across generations. Read more about him here.

Donald Fehr

During Don Fehr’s tenure as executive director from 1983 through 2009, when he handed the leadership mantle to Michael Weiner, the average Player salary increased from $289,000 to $3.24 million. No less an authority than Marvin Miller lauded Fehr for his extended run of success in advancing the cause of players. Read more about him here.

Michael Weiner

Michael Weiner helped educate and engage the membership with a rare ability to distill complex issues in a way that resonated in both the clubhouse and at the bargaining table. Learn more about him here.
